Niamey, August 28, 2025 – The Nigerien capital welcomed His Excellency, Roger Baro, Minister of Environment, Water, and Sanitation of Burkina Faso and Chairman of the Council of Ministers (CCM) of the Niger Basin Authority (NBA), this morning, as part of an official visit that will last until August 31, 2025.
This high-level visit marks an important step in monitoring the functioning of NBA and strengthening cooperation with the Nigerien authorities, Technical and Financial Partners, and representatives of the Institution’s nine member countries.
Upon arrival in Niamey, the NBA/CCM met with His Excellency, Colonel MAIZAMA ABDOULAYE, Minister of Environment, Hydraulics, and Sanitation of Niger and NBA Supervising Minister, followed by a meeting with the NBA Executive Secretary, Mr. Kocou Armand HOUANEY, and the Institution’s technical team.
One of the highlights of this visit will be the meeting scheduled for August 30, 2025, with members of the media at the NBA Executive Secretariat headquarters. This meeting will be marked by the official launch of NBA’s revamped website, a retrofitted tool that will improve transparency, disseminate information, and promote the Institution’s actions in support of sustainable development in the Niger Basin.
Through this visit, and particularly this new digital communication channel, NBA reasserts its commitment to strengthening cooperation between member countries and providing greater visibility to projects and initiatives implemented throughout the basin.
